On change…

I am bored.

I’m always very bored. Have you been so busy that you’re used to it? Yet, when you force yourself to slow down, you feel bored with just taking things slowly too? I want to do something different something more exciting than what I’m doing now. Actually, I just want to do something real. Studying is so boring. It’s really slow and at the end of the day, they’re just theoretical. It doesn’t change the world. Hell, it doesn’t even influence anything. I just gives people stuff to mark and gives them an excuse to conduct exams…which eventually is just for a piece of paper. Is the paper some ‘real’? That’s something everyone will fight about.

I was talking to Raymond two nights back at a BBQ which Yanan made us crash(It was really weird going for another club’s BBQ…) Anyway, that day I spoke to 2 people about Union. Raymond was telling me how futile it would be to try to unite the Union and the JCRC. He made a lot of sense about how the leaders of both parties have their own personal interests and how at the end of the day most Union members are there simply for their resume. But that’s always how organisations are ain’t it? Everyone is there with 2 primary priorities – First being themselves and second, being the interests of the company. Even then, the interests of the company has to be taken in because if they don’t then the fall of the company impacts the ‘self’.

I’m not sure how the situation is but I know that something can be done. I also know that only a person who really wants to get it done can do that. If you’re there without the right motivations, you’re gone. You can’t even think about personal glory because when the shots are fired and things start to heat up, that’s when a person will start to think that it might not be worth it. And if personal glory is in your agenda, then the possibility of not surviving the battle will make you cave in.

Your motivations must be absolute. You must sway only under great reasons – reasons that make you realise that there is a greater purpose than what you hold now.

Do I think I have what it takes to make NTU or at least bring about some kind greater change to NTU and the students and administrators function? Yes. How sure am I that i’m not in it for the resume? Because i’m the sort of person who likes knowing that I made something real and impossible happen? I want to graduate from NTU knowing that beyond just getting my grades, I made a difference. Yet, I wonder if there is anyone else who thinks that they could change this sad place…Some say that I am a fool for thinking I could make changes alone. So no…I’m not doing this alone…I’m looking for anyone else foolish enough to share my opinions…=)
And to anyone who might be reading this..Anyone from NTU especially, stand up for what you think NTU should be. Sure, you’ll get hit hard by the million and one people who don’t care about anything else but their grades but hey. Do something real. If you’re from hall, do the same. Perhaps I don’t understand what hall life is about because I don’t live there but I know this…doing something about NTU doesn’t mean you’re any less loyal to your hall. If you’re JCRC, better still, you’re in a position to do something about it. Encourage your hall people to be more active in trying to change NTU. It’s for hall glory, and it’s also for the betterment of the school. and if you’re from Union. Wake up! You guys have the best position to do something but you’re doing all the shit stuff that don’t matter…do something….don’t just cave in and then blame it on the system because you’re the ones who took up the job knowing that that’s where you’ll get closest to the system!
There are so many things I want to tell you NTU people but I guess for now,

Don’t just fight for hall. Because when you graduate it’ll amount to little. You could go up to some colleague and say, “Hey. I was from NTU Hall 4″ and the guy could say “Oh, really?! Me too!”

But perhaps, if we all started changing NTU today, we could up to our overseas guests, contacts, and whoever-else-thats-important and say, “Yup. I was from NTU.” and the guy would go like, “Wow! I heard they really make change there. And I heard they’ve got the balls to do stuff.”

Of course, this whole entry is just what I think. You can go ahead and continue to be a loser and think you can’t change the world.

Just focus on your grades. Shoo! Don’t waste your time reading useless stuff!

P.S. If ivan were here…NTU would be so screwed…haha
