My Notebook is worth more than I am.

Each time I go out with friends for a meal, one of the first thing’s I’d end up saying is, “You guys go ahead first. I’ll stay behind and take care of the stuff. My laptop is worth more than I am.”

16-11-07_1143 And that line I’m sure is applicable to many others as well. Most of our work and personal projects are stored in our notebooks. Your proposals, your assignments, your tons of preparations for your blog entries, your passwords, your bookmarks…your precious anime/movie downloads that took weeks to download!

With all that in mind, I dread the day I lose my notebook(I believe such things will happen to everyone at least once in their lives).

And that’s where I’m really excited to have received a copy of BAK2u’s VereyPC.

When that fateful day comes, here’s what’s going to happen. He’s going to log on to some wireless network and be faced with a password challenge. If he fails it(which he should), I’ll be notified via email of his IP address, Wireless Network, MAC address and also Machine Serial Number.

So I guess if you’re going to steal my notebook, you’re just going to have to make do without the Internet.

…and that would really suck.

Note: While I do get a copy of it for writing this, I still want to say that some kind of anti-theft/recovery software is really important. In fact, I could go into a whole new post about Backup -> Anti-Theft -> Recovery as very important framework for protecting your digital assets but I’ll save that for another day.
