My Thoughts on Facebook Chat

Wow!

That was my first reaction when I saw it. I loved the way it made efficient use of space by having an in-built ‘taskbar’. But what I liked about it more was that notifications was also put into that bar because I never really checked notifications on the ‘Home’ page.

All that said, I thought that it would be pretty useless because I wasn’t going to keep my browser open just to so that I could use FB chat. I mean, the people I’d really want to talk to are probably already on my IM so opening up FB would just be…troublesome.

Within 15minutes from thinking that(and announcing to twitter), I was wrong. FB chat had almost immediately connected me to old friend – the guys who weren’t on my MSN but were killing their time on facebook… There, I saw potential. FB Chat I told myself will be the tool I use to find lost relationships and build them back up so that they can move to my MSN…in the long run of course, this would render FB chat useless to me still. but it would work for quite some time I guess.

Oh, it’s fun going up to people on Facebook during working hours and go, “Hey! Go back to work!” lol

Note: After a week of using it, I haven’t really used it at all. It’s just become a cool feature to use while I’m actually on facebook…much like how I used the gMail chat feature before I started using the gTalk client. Maybe FB Chat should come up with an API or something…
