Finnish Government Disconnects From the Net Due To Music Sharing
May 16th, 2008 | By Ridz | Category: Featured
In true anti-piracy style, the Finnish government seems to have ‘pwn-ed’ themselves recently. They seem to have a clause in their copyright law that allows for the disconnection of the file sharers from the internet…and when their own employees were caught for file sharing, they got themselves disconnected.
Talk about the law being blind man…I don’t know why, but I find this rather amusing. Nations/Organisations/etc should just learn to slowly embrace post-scarcity and how best to use it to their advantage.
The Internet connection belonging to the Provincial Government of Åland in Finland has been disconnected following action by the anti-piracy outfit CIAPC. This disconnection, ordered by a court, may mark the first time an Internet connection has been severed in Europe for anti-piracy reasons.
