I like it how buses have moving pictures on the inner side of their windows…

I realise I’m best able to mull over things while I’m in a moving vehicle. I’m not sure if it’s because there’s no Internet connection to distract me or the moving pictures I see outside the window but whatever the case, I think better.

I find myself zooming through life these days. After my birthday party last week, things have been rather slow for me. Yesterday must have been the worst because I spent much of the day trying to stay awake – one of those days when my head feels heavy and packed yet the harder I try to think, the less I actually produce and the sleepier I get. It didn’t help that I finished half a box of “Hello Panda” snacks thus causing my eyelids to weigh like a rock.

The world changes quite rapidly in such a bad way don’t you think? It seems like everyone’s out there to grab something regardless of the cost. I guess that can be a good thing if the cost is something self-sacrificial but it seems to me like too many people do it at the expense of others. From individuals all the way up to governments – the de facto standard is “For one to win, someone else must lose.”

I think it’s sad way of living life. Sure, people will probably look at me and say that I’m naive and idealistic to believe that there can always be a win-win solution to things. But isn’t that what ideals are for? Shouldn’t ideals be something we truly believe is good and strive towards no matter how seemingly unachievable it is?

I believe strongly in how one’s mindset determines what can and cannot be done. If we approach life thinking that everyone’s out to get you, then surely we’ll never want to collaborate to achieve stuff that’s beyond ourselves. On the flipside, if we’re too trusting, we’ll get disappointed now and then by wolves but on the occasions when we do meet genuinely good people, the possibility of achieving great things will be on the table.

Ok my stop is here… Seeya~

I love to sit by the window when I’m on a bus too. That’s when I really do the most thinking. Not about tech/work, but about life, human and all.

When I was in secondary school, my bus journey to Potong Pasir took about 45 minutes. Going to school, I’m usually asleep but returning, I loved the back seat, also beside the window. Like Uzyn I did a lot of thinking, maybe that’s how I became philosophical.

There were times I deliberately took the bus from end to end just to spend a nice quiet journey in my own world. It only cost 45 cents.

I rarely take the bus alone anymore. Now I do the same thing on long mountain bike rides. The cars just whiz by. You don’t notice the people inside at all, so it’s a feeling very close to being alone. The wind also makes the mind clear.

@Aen: I tend to do a lot of thinking after midnight. I walk around my living room in the dark. And I just think. And think.
