It’s been ages since I really went on a proper holiday. I keep looking forward to the next one…but the next one is always like a month away. In fact, it’s a month away every month. Haha.
Anyhow, last night’s conversation with Malcolm reminded me of the last real holiday I went for – to Hongkong -back in 2005 with Malcolm and Marvin both really good friends who’ve seen me through the worst of times.
Thinking back, that was one of the best times in many years.

Our trip to HK was a rather spontaneous and short one
Spontaneous because we all had issues we were trying to resolve and we just wanted to get away from home for a while. And it was short because it was just a weekend. BUT! Many things happened! Ok, it mainly revolved around food(guys don’t really shop la)
These are the buddies I went with:
The guy in front is Malcolm. And the guy in white is Marvin.
And, yes, I dyed my hair then.
We left the airport on an SQ flight(which on hindsight was a luxury we didn’t have to indulge in…some budget flight like Tiger Airways) in the afternoon I think so most of our day was somewhat wasted trying to settle in. From the airport, and then subsequently trying to get the hotel in what was rather slow traffic. One thing that struck me was how most of the architecture was somewhat like Singapore. I guess major cities don’t vary that much huh? That said, the neon-lit streets did make it really exciting…it’s something you don’t see in SG. I think there are policies against such things here.

It almost feels like home…just not quite.
See? Bright lights everywhere! So exciting right?
Anyway, after we settled down in the hotel, naturally our attention went on to food but I can’t seem to find any photos of food because ermm…well…the first stop we made was “McDonalds”. Yes yes. I know, travel so far just to have Mac! Well, it just goes to show how Mac is such an integral part of our lives(and my belly).
It was already around 10 by then so we didn’t really have much left to do so we headed back to the hotel after a quick recce of the area around our hotel before grabbing some rather interesting supper.
Supper, anyone?
More about Day 2 and Day 3 soon!
