It’s been about a week since I started going on the bold and it’s quite the lifechanger.
It’s allowed me to do everything I needed to do except for my programming(which I suppose it will never be able to do).
My emails are now pushed so I can clear them regardless of where I am. My calendaring is now sync-ed to my google calendar so I can share my stuff with people. I can msn with my mom, my friends and my workmates. I can collate my tasks. I can preview my presentations on it so I don’t have to lug around my laptop as much as before. I can blog and tumblr too. Of course twitter’s on it as well.
But what really makes it all work? It’s how everything is integrated with each other. For example, from the contact list, I can pull up a person’s corresponding Facebook page or check if he’s on online on MSN. From the facebook app I can also do the reverse and access that person’s contact in my addressbook.
Everything is threaded, SMS-es, emails, messaging so it’s really easy to have conversations.
The touch and feel of the phone is also something to comment about. I think compared to a lot of phones, this one is really easy to type on and because it’s a keyboard, I no longer have to remember how many times to tap a key to get the letter I want
There is a dark side to this though. It’s slowly consuming me. I’m on it all the time.
If i’m away from the laptop to go to the kitchen, i bring it along and if an email comes in, I reply from there. If i’m watching TV, I do some work while the ads are playing. I’m on it on the bus, on the train, at the traffic light.
All that said, when I do put it aside(forcefully), I realise i’d have cleared more work and I can rest better. It’s almost as if all those little pieces of work were cleared during my ‘idle time’ and so they don’t clutter through the evening.
Oh, it can run programs in the background…somehow a lot of the things the Palm Pre can do, it can do too. The Pre looks prettier of course.
