BlackBerry Torch 9800 goes live

And so it’s official. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 has been announced.
Other than the fact it has both a full touchscreen and a slide out keyboard, I think the one key thing is that it runs on OS 6 which “Subject to carrier certifications in the months ahead, the new OS is expected to be available for the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700, BlackBerry® Bold™ 9650 and BlackBerry® Pearl™ 3G, as well as future BlackBerry smartphones.“(source: press release)
3 things in OS 6 attract me:
Firstly, they take their already message-centric device a step further by including the Social Feeds which would not only allow you to read feeds and friend’s statuses from across various sources but also to post updates to various networks from a single place. Less hassle of having to power multiple applications.
The other key thing that I’d like to try out for myself is the new browser. Most of know how much the current browser sucks in comparison to our other smartphone toting counterparts so their integration of Torch Mobile‘s(a company they acquired earlier in the year) Webkit-based browser should show a significant improvement in browsing experience.
Lastly, they jacked up the the onboard storage which I suppose is a good thing when it comes to storing and installing stuff. I remember the days of the Bold 9000 and the constant pain of having to delete stuff just so I could take more pictures or installing more applications.
