Thinking out loud: I am Singaporean. So what?

Aug 15th, 2010 | By | Category: My Life & Thoughts, Other Stuff

“Ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country” – John F. Kennedy
That’s always the line that’s used to try to spur you to action. But that quote makes one assumption – that the country is a land you’re bounded to and so it is in [...]

Civilization 5

Aug 14th, 2010 | By | Category: Tech & Web

There are only so few games that are worthy of buying to me and other than Command & Conquer, it’s Civ for me.
I’m a fan of Civilization and have been playing it since Civ II. And if Civ III and IV was a leap, Civ V is another leap(how do they keep doing this??) I [...]

Iomega at Home and In The Office

Aug 6th, 2010 | By | Category: Tech & Web

I recently got a chance to re-unite with Iomega. Re-unite? You see I was the biggest Iomega fan about 15 years ago when they were still doing the 100MB Zip Drives. I remember spending hundreds of dollars just buying those 100MB diskettes. Toting 5 of em to school and a separate bag just for the [...]

A friend of mine wrote this piece that I thought I should share with everyone. Like him, I too have been skeptical about this whole YOG business. His piece gives me a fresh perspective and also a reminder of what the spirit of this event is about…
Please take some time to read it…
I guess we [...]

BlackBerry Torch 9800 goes live

Aug 4th, 2010 | By | Category: Tech & Web

And so it’s official. The BlackBerry Torch 9800 has been announced.

Other than the fact it has both a full touchscreen and a slide out keyboard, I think the one key thing is that it runs on OS 6 which “Subject to carrier certifications in the months ahead, the new OS is expected to be available [...]

Give graciousness a chance?

Aug 3rd, 2010 | By | Category: Other Stuff

And so today I just realised that the $130 fine wasn’t a joke( i really thought it was).
For the uninitiated, Singapore will be hosting the 1st Youth Olympic Games and in a bid to make sure everything runs like the clockwork that is Singapore Inc. has implemented a special YOG lane where YOG vehicles will [...]

Aug 1st, 2010 | By | Category: Other Stuff

I thought I should share this…

“We are What We Choose”
Remarks by Jeff Bezos, as delivered to the Class of 2010

As a kid, I spent my summers with my grandparents on their ranch in Texas. I helped fix windmills, vaccinate cattle, and do other chores. We also watched soap operas every afternoon, especially “Days [...]
