Last week, RIM announced two new smartphones based on the new BlackBerry 7 operating system – the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and the BlackBerry Curve 9380.

The 9790 is powerful , full-featured and built with premium materials and finishes. It combines a high res and highly responsive touch display with the highly tactile keyboard which we’ve all come to expect from a BlackBerry. It comes in a narrow design that is easy to carry and exceptionally comfortable to hold. It runs on a 1GHz processor, includes 8GB of onboard memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32GB of additional storage.
All Touch BlackBerry Curve 9380
This is the first all-touch smartphone in the Curve family. It has a 3.2” high res display that is also highly responsive and comes preinstalled with social networking apps like BlackBerry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter and the Social Feeds app. It also features a 5MP camera with flash and video recording. The Curve 9380 has 512MB onboard memory and an expandable memory card slot that supports up to 32GB of additional storage.
BlackBerry 7 OS
Both the Curve 9380 and Bold 9790 are powered by the BlackBerry 7 OS which delivers improved browsing, voice-activated searches, support for Augmented Reality (AR) and Near Field Communication (NFC).
With the built-in support for NFC and AR, it allows users to use their phones to interact with the world in new ways. With the Wikitude Augmented Reality app, users can find nearby BBM contacts in real-time, read reviews of restaurants nearby, or get stories behind interesting places of interest. The NFC functionality also allows for the ability to make mobile payments, pair accessories and read SmartPoster tags with a tap of the smartphone.
The Bold 9790 and Curve 9380 will begin to be available from various carriers around the world over the coming weeks.
The Bold 9790 will be launched at a consumer launch event on the 25th November in the south lobby of the Pacific Place Shopping Mall, Jakarta for folks who want to be the first to own the new device. Customers can purchase the BlackBerry Bold 9790 from authorized BlackBerry retailers across Indonesia from the 26th November.
