Back in Early October 2011, Sony announced the launch of the Sony Tablet S – an Android™ 3.2 tablet running on the NVIDIA Tegra™ 2 processor. With a 9.4-inch (1280×800 resolution) LED-backlit IPS screen and WiFi connectivity, it promises to deliver enjoyable web browsing, rich entertainment content as well as applications on a large screen. It weighs 598g and has an asymmetric design that offers comfortable use over long periods of time.

Running on the Android OS, the Sony Tablet S supports multitasking which allows you to listen to your favourite tunes while you surf the web or read through a digital magazine. And if you find something you want to share, posting it to your favourite social network is just a click away. In fact, it’s such an integrated device that if you’re on your couch, you could even control your TV through the Remote Control application that uses the tablet’s IR emitter to emulate your TV remote (And, no, it does not only support Sony TVs).

Design-wise, the Sony Tablet S has an asymmetric design gives it a finely balanced feel as well as a sense of lightness that makes it a pleasure to hold and use over extended periods of time. When placed on a flat surface, it’s screen is sloped enhancing visibility and makes it a but more ergonomic for typing. It can also be docked into a special cradle that changes the tablet into a picture frame or digital clock

The Sony Tablet S is also the first series of PlayStation™ Certified tablets on which games for PlayStation™ Certified devices including original PlayStation games can be played and popular titles such as Crash Bandicoot and Pinball Heroes come preinstalled. More services will be available in time.

In terms of connectivity, the Tablet S wirelessly connects to DLNA compatible devices, including “BRAVIA” televisions, so users can just throw up their personal photos and videos to the TV with a touch of a button.

The Sony Tablet S has been available since end October 2011 and comes in 16GB and 32GB versions for $668 and $798 respectively.
