Tech65, Singapore’s most successful tech podcast/video cast team, hosted their 2011 Christmas party at Hackerspace yesterday where they did a recap of their performance over the past year and made 6 announcements.
Firstly, after running a trial of a single season of Ask Jerrick, they confirmed that there will be a 2nd season of Ask Jerrick that will air soon. For the uninitiated, Ask Jerrick is a videocast series where viewers can ask their team member Jerrick anything tech related and, well, Jerrick will answer them in a video.
Next up, after a long hiatus, the team will be reviving the 65bits podcast series that was the foundation of Tech65 in the first place. It was 65bits that was the podcast that resulted in the formation of Tech65 and it’s great to hear this piece of news.
The third announcement was somewhat not clear but it was something called Photostories. I’m not too sure what this is about but i’m thinking it’s an indication that they will go beyond just audio and video but also into pictures.
The next announcement shouldn’t come as a surprise but they announced that Tech65 is now officially a Youtube partner. This status is significant because it means they can now monetise their content and start bringing in revenue.
The last announcement, which is somewhat overdue, was that Tech65 has finally incorporated as a proper Private Limited company with Justin Lee indicating that they aim to become a “media company”. This will certainly open up many more opportunities for them in future.
Much later during the party, Justin Lee, also made a mini announcement that they will also be going to start covering enterprise news which is going to be interesting because I think most of their viewership today is probably from the consumer end of the market.
It’s really exciting to see how 2012 is going to pan out for Tech65 and the team here at Ridz.sg is definitely going to lend whatever support we can to them. Good luck guys!
