So it seems the piece I wrote about moving to Telegram got quite a bit of readership (which really was quite surprising since I wasn’t expecting that much interest in messenger apps). But since then, I’ve started to use Telegram a lot more and have had more conversations around this with people.
Somewhere along the way, I started to feel that a chat group that people could freely join and leave anytime(because Telegram allows a public invitation link to be shared) was a much more cosy place for communities to come together. And I think maybe it might be a nice platform to use to engage you, the readers(and really, we only just have a small handful to be honest), to find what sort of stuff you’d want to see us review, write about, etc It would be a great opportunity for us to learn more about you too and perhaps see what sort of tech stuff you’re into that we could learn about.
If you’re keen to join us on this experiment, here’s how I’m going to be implementing this :
Ridz.sg Group Chat (http://ridz.sg/telegramgroup)
You could treat this more like a chatroom that you join when you’re bored, leave when you’re done (and join again when you want to ‘hang out’) or you can just perpetually stay in there. We’d love to have company. Come share cool things you chance upon on the internet or gadgets you own or something,
Here you can also chat with the team directly, share with us your thoughts/opinions about stuff, tell us what sort of reviews you want to see. Basically, anything(well, almost. You have to be respectful).
I do intend to post a ‘brief’ regularly on group chat etiquette (to minimise spamming of @ notifications) and also to teach new people how to ‘mute’ the group chat so that they’re not bombarded with notification alerts when chats go fast and furious.
Ridz.sg Channel (http://ridz.sg/telegramchannel)
Here I’ll add all the writers as administrators and we’ll use it to post our day to day stuff – the cool new gadget we saw while walking down the street. An app we discovered, a new book we got. Not necessarily stuff we’re going to write about but stuff that we find interesting but might not really warrant a post. And of course, if you want to respond to any of these, you can hop over to the group chat 🙂
Looking forward to seeing you there!
